The Rite. Something has taken hold of the old chapel: candles relight themselves and the bells ring at midnight. The old priest began the rite to send it away, and could not finish. The pages of the rite are scattered.

Possession Is Nine-Tenths. The spirit claims it owns the chapel, and the law agrees, mostly.
